At the core of this redesign is improved navigation and enhanced functionality. The use of modern web technology, including Vue and TypeScript, has made Viz Pilot Edge more user-friendly, responsive, and significantly faster to start, with startup times now up to 3 times quicker*.
Ionut ‘Johnny’ Pogacean, Senior Product Manager for Viz Pilot Edge, explained, “Viz Pilot Edge is a crucial component in the newsroom graphics creation process. We are taking concrete steps to ensure that journalists can tell their stories more efficiently by developing products designed for workflows that are not only relevant to today’s newsrooms but also to those of the future.”
The new streamlined interface prioritizes speed and agility in the newsroom while retaining a sense of familiarity for users. The layout has been simplified and optimized for various screen sizes, allowing users to concentrate on graphic creation.
Navigation has been refined to make it easier to find templates and elements, with dropdowns and tabs for quicker access to frequently used features. The search function now includes multiple tag filtering options to narrow down search results. Additionally, users can undock the preview window, a useful feature when working with multi-field advanced templates.
The interface update also introduces features such as the ability to drag and drop multiple elements into a story slug, radio buttons in templates, improved crop functionality, and faster table editing. Live data input benefits from the addition of RSS feed support in the feed browser.
Mayam Order Management Integration
Vizrt has incorporated an Order Management integration, simplifying the process of requesting and managing images. Journalists can prepare templates with relevant text and data and send orders directly to the Creative Department through Viz Pilot Edge. This new workflow offers transparency and efficient management of media orders.
User-Friendly Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality Workflows
Vizrt has made it easier to incorporate AR/VR into automated rundowns with the inclusion of the Viz Arc MOS plugin. This enables users to control AR/VR graphics within a unified interface and seamlessly integrate them with studio automation applications like Viz Mosart.
Despite the extensive interface changes, previous templates remain compatible and continue to function seamlessly.
