Mo-Sys Engineering, renowned for its expertise in image robotics, virtual production, and remote production solutions, has revealed that its VP Pro XR LED Content Server Solution will be at the core of an advanced LED virtual production facility at Solent University in Southampton, UK.
The project will be executed by Mo-Sys partner CJP, responsible for upgrading the existing studio space and integrating the cutting-edge LED virtual studio. This development follows the success of a similar venture at the University of Sunderland, also implemented by CJP, resulting in increased student enrollment numbers.
Solent University’s new LED Volume will revolutionize film production courses, featuring a 10m x 3m LED wall and a 4m x 2m Mimik lighting panel to enhance lighting and cinematic reflections. The solution will encompass AOTO LED panels and Brompton video processors, alongside Mo-Sys’ StarTracker Max camera tracking and VP Pro XR technology.
Christopher Woolford, Technical Instructor at Solent University, underlined the aim of providing students with real-world experience, stating that the advanced techniques used in major film and television productions will equip students for their desired careers. Ken Pitts, Course Leader for CGI and VFX, emphasized the groundbreaking potential of the new facility, enabling students to master the latest technologies and techniques.
