Soul Sound Music Art Production stands as a realization of a passionate vision crafted by Lebanese singer-songwriter Aziz Abdo. In his pursuit of musical growth and artistic excellence, Abdo aimed to create an environment that could propel his musical journey to new heights. He shares, “I envisioned a professional studio space that not only elevates my skills and talent but also transforms the typical music studio experience in Dubai. I wanted to infuse it with a contemporary flair, creating an ‘instagrammable’ sanctuary that inspires artists and influencers alike. I aimed to democratize the creative process, making music creation accessible to all.”
To bring his vision to life, Abdo enlisted the expertise of audio engineer Hosni Abu Zahra, renowned for his profound understanding of acoustics and technical finesse. This collaboration set the stage for an uncompromising recording environment.
Abu Zahra reflects on his meticulous approach: “I curated a selection of high-quality audio equipment, from microphones and preamps to compressors, EQs, and monitors, tailored precisely to the project’s needs. The studio’s infrastructure was carefully wired to mitigate signal degradation and interference. The studio’s design embraced optimal dimensions to counteract standing waves and resonances, ensuring superior sound quality. Additionally, sound isolation was paramount, achieved through the strategic placement of diffusers, absorbers, and bass traps.”
When it came to choosing a monitoring solution, Abu Zahra’s choice was evident – Genelec. “Genelec monitors are renowned for their exceptional audio quality and accuracy,” he affirms. “They offer transparency, accuracy, and a wide frequency response. Their reliability and impeccable build quality are complemented by the adaptability of their performance through the GLM software. Moreover, their reputation as the industry’s finest studio monitors is well-established.”
The installed solution includes main studio monitors in the form of a pair of 1234s, accompanied by 1032 nearfield models. Low frequencies find their home in the 7382 subwoofer, and additional 8030s serve as nearfield monitors at a secondary listening spot for guests, distinct from the primary mix position.
The studio’s all-encompassing role in mixing, recording, and mastering made GLM calibration software an essential component. Abu Zahra praises the transformative effect of GLM: “GLM has revolutionized my approach by rectifying frequency curves as needed, revolutionizing the studio’s acoustic response.”
The outcome of this creative venture garners unanimous satisfaction. Abdo beams, “I’m truly content, having meticulously planned every facet of the studio. As a musician myself, I’ve curated an environment conducive to artists’ comfort, ensuring an upbeat atmosphere that fosters momentum and focus. The combination of top-tier equipment and the latest technology in a high-quality studio fosters innovation and experimentation.”
With Soul Sound Music Art Production’s doors now open to the artistic community, Abdo’s dream has become reality. He enthuses, “We’ve achieved a cutting-edge recording space, outfitted with international-standard, state-of-the-art equipment, right in the heart of glamorous Downtown Dubai. I aspire for this studio to be the definitive recording haven where emerging artists can freely experiment with their musical visions.”
