Genelec, a globally recognized leader in professional audio monitoring solutions, has unveiled the 9401A System Management Device, further extending its UNIO Audio Monitoring Service Platform.
The 9401A serves as a companion to Genelec’s Smart Active Monitors and Subwoofers, providing 16 channels of digital connectivity, alongside dedicated subwoofer and auxiliary stereo outputs via AES/EBU. The auxiliary output is well-suited for headphone use, facilitating binaural and secondary stereo loudspeaker monitoring. The device seamlessly integrates with Genelec Loudspeaker Manager (GLM) software, enabling comprehensive system calibration, including subwoofer alignment and support for bass management.
With a separate subwoofer output, Smart Active Subwoofers can be easily linked to increase low-frequency SPL output, and the channel capacity can be swiftly expanded with additional 9401A units to support high-channel-count immersive formats like 22.2.
In addition to its AoIP networking capabilities, loudspeaker management, and calibration, the 9401A leverages the proprietary GLM network connectivity. Control of the entire monitoring system can be achieved tactically through the new 9320A Reference Controller, offering one-click access to numerous monitor features embedded in the Smart Active Monitoring family.
The 1U rack-mountable 9401A is compatible with sample rates ranging from 44.1 kHz to 192 kHz, supporting 16, 24, and 32-bit resolution per sample. Utilizing Gigabit Ethernet for low latency, the device supports the ST2110 broadcast suite with ST2022-7 redundant network connectivity and Networked Media Open Specifications (NMOS) integration to enterprise management and automation systems. It is designed for long-term reliability and constructed according to the highest environmental standards at Genelec’s factory in Iisalmi, Finland. The 9401A also features support for proprietary Intelligent Signal Sensing (ISS) technology, contributing to lower power consumption.
Siamäk Naghian, Managing Director at Genelec, expressed, “With the UNIO platform, we’re providing audio professionals with a bridge between in-room loudspeaker and personal headphone monitoring, so that they can move seamlessly between the two with no interruption in workflow. Now, with the 9401A device, we’ve brought the networking power of AoIP to our range of Smart Active Monitors and Subwoofers—once again showing how Genelec solutions represent a secure and future-proof investment in professional monitoring.”
Genelec’s 9401A System Management Device extends the capabilities of their audio monitoring offerings, catering to the evolving needs of audio professionals in various fields.
