Riedel Communications, a leading provider of real-time video, audio, data, and communications networks, proudly announces its enduring partnership with Race of Champions (ROC), the prestigious international motorsport event featuring top racing and rally drivers from around the world. For over 12 years, ROC has relied on Riedel’s cutting-edge solutions, starting with radios and evolving to intercom communications, to ensure seamless and efficient communication across departments. This year, Riedel’s MediorNet, Artist, and Bolero systems played a pivotal role in managing communications at ROC’s challenging snow and ice track in northern Sweden, further cementing the success of this long-standing collaboration.
Dominic Oliff, Owner and Director of Operations at ROC, expressed his confidence in Riedel’s solutions, stating, “Beyond the Race of Champions, many of us work with other large-scale sporting events, so we are familiar with Riedel’s products and use them on more than one project. Race of Champions has its own unique set of challenges — it’s very dynamic, things change all the time, and communication is absolutely key to that. You don’t realize the importance of communication until you don’t have it. Fortunately, we’ve been able to bring Riedel’s experience and knowledge to this event, having the confidence that if something does go wrong, they’ll have it solved within just a few seconds.”
Leveraging Riedel’s state-of-the-art technology, ROC efficiently managed its communication needs with remarkable ease and effectiveness. Riedel’s MediorNet, consisting of 10 frames, enabled the transmission of radio comms, video, audio, and data over a single fiber-optic cable, significantly reducing infrastructure costs while maintaining exceptional flexibility throughout the entire venue. The comprehensive Riedel Artist ecosystem, comprising 36 intercom panels and an integrated Bolero system with 24 beltpacks and five antennas, ensured seamless communication across the organization. With the ability for multiple users to speak simultaneously over the intercom thanks to six full-duplex channels per beltpack, team members could update each other quickly and clearly. To further enhance the event’s success, Riedel’s Managed Technology team provided on-site support and assistance throughout the duration of the event.
As the only competition of its kind, Race of Champions brings together renowned drivers from various motorsport disciplines, including Formula One, World Rally Championship, IndyCar, NASCAR, Le Mans, and Rally X, who compete head-to-head in identical vehicles. The high-intensity nature of the knockout tournament demands seamless coordination among the live broadcast crew, track crew, drivers, and marshals, enabling them to adapt swiftly to changes.
Marc Schneider, Executive Director Global Events at Riedel, highlighted the company’s commitment to ROC’s success, stating, “Race of Champions has always been an incredible event, and Riedel remains eager to help them be their best over the course of our longstanding partnership. It’s been a fun ride, both literally and figuratively, and we’re happy that our solutions continue to help them work affordably, quickly, and confidently.”
Through its unwavering support and technologically advanced solutions, Riedel Communications continues to be an integral part of Race of Champions, empowering the event to achieve seamless communication, enhanced operational efficiency, and an unforgettable experience for drivers and fans alike.
