Cardiff-based post-production house Gorilla, a respected name in the Welsh media scene and a long-term Jigsaw24 Media customer, recently expanded its operations with a new facility in Bristol. Located alongside major broadcasters like the BBC and Channel 4 in Bristol’s Finzel’s Reach, the facility was meticulously designed to offer a comprehensive range of hybrid post-production solutions catering to the demands of contemporary productions.
The new facility provides end-to-end post-production services, encompassing media management, offline editing, picture and sound finishing, and delivery. It features 20 offline suites, four online suites, a Baselight grading suite, and three dub suites equipped with Dolby Atmos capabilities. Additionally, the facility includes 20 remote studios with extensive connectivity to Gorilla’s Cardiff headquarters, facilitated by Gorilla’s private cloud infrastructure based on industry-standard Avid workflows.
Rhodri James, Director of Technology and Operations at Gorilla, emphasized the importance of Avid in their workflow, stating, “We believe Avid is the market leader in editing. We can only do a lot of our projects on the Avid infrastructure because competing vendors cannot do what Avid does. Also, we trust Avid: they listen to us, they develop products, there’s an open door to us. It’s more than just buying subscriptions, it’s a partnership.”
To celebrate the launch of the new facility, Jigsaw24 Media, in collaboration with Avid, organized an event in Bristol. The team showcased Gorilla’s unique systems and engaged with potential clients, highlighting the capabilities of the state-of-the-art post-production facility. Rich Moss, Managing Director of Gorilla, expressed the significance of the event, saying, “We wanted to let people know that we have a facility and creative talent that we are proud of and we look forward to becoming an integral part of the Bristol Creative Community.”
