The Reliable Internet Stream Transport (RIST) Forum will be delivering a programme of online events, including webinars and online demonstrations. The online events will serve as a replacement for the group’s planned presence at 2020 NAB Show.

The RIST Forum promotes the adoption of an interoperable standard, Reliable Internet Stream Transport, for transporting live video over unmanaged networks. The virtual events will provide an opportunity to showcase the RIST protocol, which can be deployed for multiple applications and use-case scenarios.

The virtual RIST demonstrations, beginning early April and happening throughout the month, will exhibit key features of the RIST Main profile. RIST has been designed for multi-vendor interoperability across different implementations, and topics on RIST usage covered in the demos will include; multi-stream multiplexing/tunnelling using GRE, DTLS encryption and certificate management, Pre-Shared Key encryption and Null packet deletion. The demo participants include Cobalt, Evertz, Net Insight, Nevion, QVidium, SipRadius, VideoFlow and Zixi, and will also feature the recently-released open source library libRIST.

In addition, RIST will host a webinar on Wednesday May 6th at 1pm EST, which will be repeated on Thursday May 7th at 9am EST. The webinar will discuss how the RIST protocol enables low-latency, high-quality live video over unmanaged networks, with state-of-the art security and authentication. RIST was designed by a group of industry experts from leading companies in the field and is available in a wide variety of products from multiple vendors – giving users the ability to choose the best device for their application, without locking them into a proprietary solution. The webinar will also discuss key considerations and feature a number of real-world use cases.

Ciro Noronha, President, the RIST Forum, commented; “The current climate of uncertainty coupled with a sudden surge in remote working means that it is more important than ever to be able to transmit reliable, high-quality video from homes and remote facilities. Varying levels of connectivity and overcrowded networks is making that challenging. These webinars and online demonstrations will offer an insight into the RIST protocol and the flexible solutions it offers organisations.”
