NEW AT SPN INDIA

SPN India was at the forefront of innovations and exciting projects in the year gone by, as stated by Sodhi. One of the most interesting projects for him, was running the much-loved television series – Kaun Banega Crorepati on their Sony LIV platform. The game is called KBC Play Along, and allows the user to play the game on their device, simultaneously along with the actual game being played on television.

Broadcast and media is an exciting fast-paced space! For those who are eager, there is a sea of opportunities waiting to be grabbed. Good content creators are always going to be in demand.

“When Mr Amitabh Bachchan asks a question on TV, the same question flashes on your device – it’s as if the user is playing the game live. The game garnered an overwhelming 600 million interactions last year, owing to the immersive experience. We also streamed an exciting cricket ODI match played between India and Australia, and clocked one of the highest concurrencies ever recorded in India –close to 7 million users!” exclaimed Sodhi.

While building Sony LIV, Sodhi has forged long-lasting relationships with some major industry names like Akamai Technologies, who helped them build a robust system for the application. SPN India also partnered with Accedo, Accenture, Google and CleverTap; the latter being a mobile marketing platform. This has been something that SPN India has done differently, according to Sodhi.

THE FUTURE BECKONS

“We aim to be the most-preferred destination for entertainment in India!” said Sodhi. He strongly believes that SPN India will continue to invest in quality content, by bringing to India some of the most popular global shows; on the lines of their tie-up with Lionsgate. Sodhi also mentioned that SPN India will focus on developing original content by way of new shows – to expand their offerings.
“We think we have a huge play in the second screen gaming space, after the success of KBC Play Along. We aim to introduce online voting, online predictions and other intriguing augmentations in future. We have been able to manage and keep pace with the ever-evolving technological landscape,” he stated.

For young professionals ready to kick-start their career in this domain, Sodhi has some words of advice. “Broadcast and media is an exciting fast-paced space! Things change swiftly in the digital space, especially so in the entertainment sector. For those who are eager, there is a sea of opportunities waiting to be grabbed. Also, good content creators are always going to be in demand, given the niche nature of the industry! I would advise more people to join, but at the same time be prepared for a roller-coaster ride!”
We couldn’t agree more!
