PHABRIX is a world-leader in video/audio test and measurement, with a range of portable and rack-mount systems, for rapid fault diagnosis, compliance monitoring and video/audio quality control.
Over the past few years, it has enjoyed a phenomenal global growth path with an average year-on-year growth of 25% since 2015, and has ambitions to further increase its market reach around the world, in 2018.
Phillip Adams, MD, PHABRIX, commented, “Reliable and agile test and measurement solutions have never been more important, as broadcasters grapple with a changing landscape, including UHD (4K), HDR, the transition to IP and shifting technology standards. Our customers are relying on us to deliver flexible and future-ready test and measurement solutions to support their needs today, as well as the challenges they will face tomorrow.”
PHABRIX has introduced several key features and capabilities that will make their EMEA debuts at IBC 2018, demonstrating how the company is helping customers in the move to IP, UHD and HDR.
The top of the range Qx Series will be on show, offering the latest hybrid IP/SDI test and measurement tools required for transition to the next generation of video formats. The Qx IP offers SMPTE 2110 with PTP and 2022-6 support. The Qx Series’ new SDI STRESS option provides an advanced toolset for SDI interface stress testing which, together with the fast, automated 12G-SDI physical layer analysis with RTE™ (Real-Time Eye) technology, provides a world-class solution to SMPTE compliance verification. The instant, RTE™ (Real-Time Eye) technology speeds physical layer testing, and delivers automated measurements and logging for key parameters such as: rise time, fall time, delta, overshoot, undershoot and cable length. The Jitter analysis instrument enables an engineer to quickly analyse the nature of jitter present using a graph of jitter versus time. Other key capabilities include Dolby® E, Dolby® Digital and Dolby® Digital Plus bitstream analysis, as well as video status logging, and remote operation over Ethernet.
Adding to its comprehensive PQ HDR toolset, the Qx Series offers support for Hybrid Log-Gamma (HLG) and S-Log3, enhancing the visualisation and analysis of 4K/UHD and HD content. The series’ new remote interface will also be demonstrated, employing VNC technology to deliver up to 16 simultaneous scalable instruments per window backed by a new powerful preset mechanism.
The Sx Series of compact and portable generators/analysers for hybrid IP/SDI and physical layer testing also includes support for the latest SMPTE ST 2110 and SMPTE 2022-6 decapsulation/encapsulation. With over 6000 units shipped worldwide, the Sx is the Broadcast industry’s most popular handheld instrument offering exceptional mobility in an easy to use, easy to carry format. Designed for commissioning, fault-finding and compliance testing, the PHABRIX Sx range is equally at home on an Outside Broadcast, in a studio facility, in remote locations with remote monitoring, or a manufacturing and test environment.
PHABRIX’s Sx TAG is designed for rapid fault-finding and compliance testing in IP, 3G/HD/SD-SDI, optical SDI and analogue broadcast workflows, the Sx TAG’s advanced toolset also includes multi-format waveform and vectorscope monitors. With an inbuilt 16:9 screen and speakers, users can perform video and audio generation and analysis in remote locations.
Ideal for broadcast QC in the studio, MCR or live production truck, PHABRIX’s Rx Rasterizer Series delivers 2K/3G/HD/SD signal generation, analysis and monitoring for faster compliance testing and fault diagnosis of video and audio. Its ultra-flexible, user-defined instrument layout can present up to 16 instruments simultaneously, ranging from full screen to 1/16 screen.
Concurrent with the new developments in its comprehensive product range, PHABRIX is expanding its global footprint, most recently in the key South East Asia region. Amit Daftary was appointed earlier this year to manage the company’s sales operations in the region as director of sales. Daftary has over 20 years of experience in the broadcast industry. Prior to joining PHABRIX, he has held senior sales positions at various conglomerates. Based in Mumbai, Daftary is responsible for the management of PHABRIX’s distributor network and growing business across the region.
Commenting on his appointment, Daftary said, “With such exceptional growth over the past three years and plans for greater expansion this year, I have joined PHABRIX at a very exciting time. I’m working closely with the company’s distributor network in the region to really maximise awareness of our world-leading test and measurement instruments.”
