Award-winning ad filmmaker Benedict Campbell, who has in the past worked with brands such as Nike, Jaguar and Mercedes, recently chose Rotolight as his exclusive lighting gear for the recent international ad campaign of Harley-Davidson. “The power and mobility of Rotolight Anova was the biggest seller for me. It is such a light-weight unit that one can hold it with his hands. It works great as a fill light during the day and is ideal for key light in the studio. I do a lot of high speed video so I need lights that are portable yet have enough power to light the subjects,” said Campbell, who shot the TV commercial for a week in Spain, while capturing the exploits of a Harley biker on a beach.Weighing in at just 3.5kg, the Anova packs a punch in terms of output, using just 42 Watts. The innovative LED Floodlight range offers totally flicker free lighting and emits up to 3.9 kW tungsten bulb equivalent / 5938 lux at 3 feet, powered by mains or V-Lock battery as standard.“Set in the early evening we knew we didn’t have much time to capture the scene. But that evening the clouds covered the sun. I quickly grabbed the Anova, reproduced the missing evening light and lit it on the subjects. It was perfect. We could create the exact quality that we had desired,” said Campbell, who was also tasked with capturing close-ups of the new Harley ‘Road Glide’ at a studio in Portland.
