In order to step up its project deliverables, the company has added people in key positions
With several key appointments during 2016, Grass Valley has been able to stay at the top of its game. The appointment of Prem Shankar as the project management head for South Asia stands out as he added a level of professional expertise to the company’s project-delivery activities by bringing in a variety of processes.
The year also witnessed the launch of iTX On-Demand, the company’s video-on-demand (VOD) solution, which helped broadcasters and content owners streamline VOD content creation, ensuring live sports/news and special events were on OTT platforms minutes after the event finished.
Grass Valley’s team in India continued to grow with the addition of several key people. After successfully building an experienced team of sales leaders, account managers, and engineering and sales support, the company appointed Prem Shankar, who has more than 15 years of experience in broadcast, as the project management head for South Asia. Shankar added a level of professional expertise to its project delivery activities by bringing in a variety of processes that helped bridge the gap between customer expectation and project deliverables. The change under his leadership has also enhanced customer experience. Grass Valley continues to attract some of the leading innovators and thinkers in the industry to identify and develop solutions needed by its customers.
In 2016, Grass Valley introduced various innovative solutions in the areas of capture, switching, networking, and VOD preparation. For instance, the company’s LDX 86N Series cameras gave broadcasters the advantage of selecting between native 4K or switching to native 3G/HD depending on the application. Furthermore, its new VOD solution, iTX On-Demand, helped broadcasters and content owners streamline VOD content creation, ensuring live sports/news and special events were on OTT platforms minutes after the event concluded.
Grass Valley continues to evolve and expand its solution offerings to customers. One of the key initiatives this past year was to stock inventory in India to support customers who were under warranty and service contracts. The company invested heavily in importing spare parts and storing them with a professional logistics company for a quick turnaround, which helped improve the response for customers and service revenue.
Grass Valley is committed to the philosophy of providing integrated solutions that enable customers to create, control, and connect content. Its regional team works hard on this strategy, which benefits customers with cost efficiency, a single point of contact, and products that are designed from the very beginning to work together seamlessly. This also helps reduce the deployment time of each project.
One of the keys to Grass Valley’s success in India is its ability to work with multiple partners. The company continues to work with exclusive partners for product lines such as Edius and maintains regional partnerships to manage the South India market (including Sri Lanka) and North India market (including Bangladesh). In addition, system integrators contributed significantly to its growth by working on key projects. In all, Grass Valley worked with more than 10 partners.
The company’s channel policies are primarily driven by the key strengths of its partners. Grass Valley aims to identify these strengths and adequately support them.
